Abstract: We will discuss some examples of the algebraic sets \mathr (the set of all parameters with an n-periodic cycle of multiplier 1) in various families of polynomials, and try to understand the nature of their singularities as well the "dynamical" behavior of these singular parameters. As an application, we will classify the 'singular' parameters on the boundaries of odd period hyperbolic components of the tricorn, which is the connectedness locus of quadratic antiholomorphic polynomials.
