"Towards characterisation of IMGs of expanding Thurston Maps"

Date: Tue, March 10, 2015
Time: 14:15
Place: Research I Seminar Room

Abstract: I will define expanding Thurston maps, a special class of branched covering maps of a 2-sphere. Examples of expanding Thurston maps are given by post-critically finite rational maps whose Julia sets are the whole Riemann sphere. I will describe a combinatorial approach to compute the iterated monodromy action of an expanding Thurston map and discuss some particular examples of IMGs. At the end of my talk I will talk about the ongoing research towards characterisation of IMGs of expanding Thurston Maps.
