Raymond O. Wells, Professor of Mathematics at Rice University for many years, is one of the founding fathers of International University Bremen. He served as Jacobs's first Vice President for External Affairs and as Professor of Mathematics. On June 30, 2005, he retired from his position as Vice President, just after his 65th birthday, and was appointed Distinguished Professor of Mathematics.
